That's gonna burn ...I am not a rap fan. Never was, never will be. But I always had a grudging respect for Eminem - his rage was so eloquent, and his humor was so dark. When his personal life derailed his professional life, I thought, oh, too bad, and that was about it. I thought he was just another flash in the pan. So did a lot of other people.
But now Em's all cleaned up, and it sounds like he's grown up, too. In a recent interview Slim tells Vibe about how his grief over losing his best friend, Proof, made him turn to drugs for relief. A first trip to rehab didn't fix him, and he ended up back in detox after nearly OD'ing on methadone. He got clean again only to relapse after knee surgery.
Eminem says he's been sober for a year now and he's ready to prove that he's not another Vanilla Ice. "Rap was my drug. It used to get me high and then it stopped getting me high. Then I had to resort to other things to make me feel that ... now rap's getting me high again."
