Wreckage of Travis and Adam's planeAs badly injured as they are, Travis and Adam are very lucky to have survived; the other four people on the plane did not.
Travis, former drummer for Blink-182, and Adam ("DJ AM") Goldstein, celebrity spinner, had chartered a Learjet to fly them from South Carolina to Van Nuys after they played a show together. The chartered jet somehow failed to take off at the end of the runway, instead crashing through a fence and crossing a roadway before exploding on impact with a berm. Somehow Adam and Travis were able to extricate themselves from the burning wreckage, but not before suffering what is said to be second- and third-degree burns. Adam is said to be burned on his head and hands while Travis was burned on his torso and lower body. While they're both still listed in critical condition, they are expected to make full recoveries.
The other four passengers - the pilot, co-pilot, Barker's assistant and a security guard - were unable to be rescued from the wreckage because of intense flames and heat. Investigators are currently at the scene trying to ascertain the cause of the crash. The pilots were experienced, the weather was good, and the plane was thought to be in good working condition. Our hearts go out to the families of those who perished, and we wish Travis and Adam a safe and speedy recovery.
