Yeesh, these damn heteros are so excitable. Where's my Prozac? Rosie is very cool. She brought excitement, controversy and great ratings to the snooze fest that is The View. She also does a lot of good in the world, and is to be admired for the time and money she has donated to her pet causes. But The Price Is Right? Meh. I'm not feeling it.
I grew up watching Bob Barker on The Price Is Right. And when I gave birth to my children, all the girls in the maternity ward would tune in daily. Bob was so much more than simply a game show host - he made us all feel like we knew him, and offended no one.
Can Rosie step into such big shoes? She's got the chutzpah, that's for sure. And she has her loyal following, both hetero and gay. But Rosie also seems to have some serious commitment issues when it comes to her shows, and if ever there were a gig that needs someone to stick with it, it's this show.
More importantly, would she be able to keep her personal beliefs, crusades and vendettas out of it? Bob plugged his pet cause daily, but with good taste, simply reminding viewers to spay or neuter their cats and dogs to prevent unwanted pets in the last second or so of the broadcast. I can't see Rosie sneaking in a quick aside, like, "Don't forget Donald Trump is a douche", before the end of credits. She needs more of a soapbox than that, but her tirades would surely turn off long-time viewers who might not get her POV as it is.
