Daniel's death has been ruled an intentional overdose since there was too many drugs in his system for it to be anything else. He had a combination of eight different antidepressants and stimulants in his body, but what killed him was the methadone. “(C)learly the methadone was the key in understanding this death. But for the methadone, he would not have died," says Dr. William Lee Hern, Director of the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's office. “Based on the amount in the stomach, it was not an attempt to get high ... It was enough to kill him, with some left over unabsorbed. If what was in his blood hadn’t killed him, the remainder would have continued its toxic effect.”
Daniel was said to be severely depressed about a recent break-up and the new rival for his mother's affections, Danielynn. He wasn't a druggie, though. And he hated Howard K. Did he overdose on his mother's meds hoping the finger would point at Howard? Or was this just more of the good lovin' and heavy druggin' he showed Daniel's mother? No one knows for sure, and we may never find out.
