Dear WGA strikers. I really respect your cause and you deserve millions but you are killing awards season.

Golden Globes funGolden Globes funWhat I am trying to say is January without meaningless awards shows is like December without Christmas lights. I am not talking about silly ones like the People's Choice Awards (is it really the people's choice or CBS's people's choice? Think about it) but the really good ones like the Golden Globes and the SAG awards. I mean the SAG awards is really special because actors nominate eachother so you get to see who is super popular in Hollywood (it is like looking at a yearbook) and the Golden Globes is just the most glamorous shit show you will ever see. Everyone gets wasted in their formal wear, Jack Nicholson hits on anything in a skirt and there is always the awkward presentation of Miss Golden Globe which is going to be especially awkward this year because it is Rumer Willis who just screams anti-ms. anything. Also people act like the Golden Globes is really prestigious and this grea precursor to the Oscars but I'm sorry Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail? Cameron Diaz in There's Something About Mary? John Travolta in Hairspray? I don't recall any of these people going on to win an Oscar. It is also great when they present the lifetime acheivement award. Now see at the Oscars this is usually a person who has had an amazing career but is not always a well-known name and is usally, let's face it, about 5 minutes away from death so they know they have to give them the Oscar ASAP. Of course, at the Golden Globes they usually just pick the most famous person who turned 50 that month. In the past few years it has been Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand, Warren Beatty and this year it will be Steven Speilberg.
Anyway, I understand that the actors don't want to cross the picket lines and disrespect the writers and that is all fine and dandy. I especially love it when you have these millionaire actors picketing with the writers. But writers couldn't you take one day off so we can see drunk actresses flailing about in couture dresses?! That is a priceless memory.
