MSG New Year's EveChris Rock, while shrill and annoying at times, is one of the best stand-up artists around. It's where it all began for him, and where he brought it full circle on New Year's Eve, when he did his thang at Madison Square Garden.
Rock was admittedly nervous at first, but found his groove pretty quickly and brought the house down. Chris is a true stand-up guy - he's smart and insightful in his humor - he doesn't have to talk about his latest bowel movement or say "f**k" every three seconds to get the crowd roaring. He talked about married life, kids, politics, all things his audience could identify with. His best line? When talking about the presidential candidates, Rock reminded everyone that just because her husband was President doesn't qualify Hillary for the job. ""I think America's ready for a woman president . . . just not that woman. Being married to somebody doesn't make you good at their job. I've been with my wife 10 years now. If she got up here right now, y'all wouldn't laugh. At all. You get on a plane tomorrow, you want the pilot's wife flying you?" Good point. Another good point? Chris Rock put on a great show because he was in his element. He should stick to stand-up and leave the action movies to Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan.
