Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably aware that MTV's "Laguna Beach" spin-off about how Lauren Conrad hates Heidi Montag (and vice versa) and must be the best paid intern on the planet, "The Hills," is scripted.

Why The Hills Could Never Ever Be Real (The Abridged Version)
-JEN BUNNY: Friends don't ignore other friends obvious nose jobs, and not mention a word, cameras or not.
-HEIDI: A nose job and breast implants?! COME ON. What working college aged girl can afford that? Not to mention judging from her brief trip to visit Mom & Stepdad in Colorado, I'm not too sure her earth-loving, horse-raising family would be all for plastic surgery. JUST A GUESS.
-SPENCER: What exactly does he do? How do those two knuckleheads afford that apartment? His only responsibilities seem to include bitching at Brody Jenner for no reason and sitting on the couch with his laptop.
-THE RING: Rumor has it the ring Heidi gave Spencer isn't even an engagement ring and it's all a publicity stunt. I wouldn't be surprised when it comes to these two. See staged "OH. MY. GAWD. IS THAT THE PAPARAZZI!?!!"pumpkin picking event from last week for more evidence.
-THE RING 2: There is also major speculation over whether or not the ring is even real. Amethyst. Frankly speaking, who has ever seen an amethyst engagement ring?!
-THE INTERNSHIP: What editor of a magazine, especially a Conde Nast magazine like Teen Vogue, would ever devote that much time to meeting with interns? REALLY? Does MTV think that none of it's audience has ever interned at a major publication?
-MOST RECENT OFFENSE: Note the photograph of Spencer dropping Heidi off at LAX airport yesterday. Dually note the next photograph of Heidi staging her return, earlier yesterday afternoon.
The Hills, much like a full-on Monet. From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess.
