Run, Dani, run!From the NY Daily News this morning comes the latest shocking revelation ... oh, wait, it's only shocking when it's unexpected. Rush and Molloy bring us the story of Mark Speer, a "decorated former" deputy sheriff in LA and sometime bodyguard of Larry Birkhead who accompanied Larry on a trip to Nassau, Bahamas in January.
On this trip, Larry told Speer they were going to Anna's son Daniel's grave, but it wasn't to pay respects on his birthday; it was for a photo op with Splash News he had arranged. They must have paid him well, because the photogs made him do three "takes" of various mournful expressions and poses. Speer also claims to have been in the room when Larry was questioned by police about Daniel's death and heard him tell the authorities that Howard K. had been busy siphoning funds from Anna's accounts and wiring them overseas. Speer says he witnessed the first meeting of Larry and his daughter, Danielynn, at the Bahamas estate where Anna had been living, and that he heard Howard telling Larry that he'd give him full custody of the baby if he let Howard be executor of Anna's estate.
Why is it that this case brings out the very worst in the worst kind of people? The sleaze that has come out of the woodwork to cash in since she died would put the best of Jerry Springer to shame. If this guy's account of what he witnessed while working for Birkhead is accurate, why did he wait so long? Or is this just more of Rita Crosby's new book? Birkhead is going to stroke out. I just hope he doesn't leave the baby alone with Uncle Howard any time soon.
