Chris Benoit, man on the verge of unspeakable actsThis is the last known picture taken of Chris Benoit, taken just days before his death. How a man who so obviously loved his son could have committed such a heinous act was totally beyond me, and indeed, most people. But the facts as they stand are incontrovertible. Over the course of a weekend, Benoit killed first his wife, then his 7-year-old son, and then himself in their home. Larry King's guest that night was Benoit's father (whose grief was absolutely heartwrenching) and a doctor who is crusading for the recognition of severe brain injuries as the cause of psychotic breaks (psychotic behavior in a seemingly normal person). This doctor claimed that abnormal protein deposits in Chris Benoit's brain, caused by multiple concussions, were the real culprit, not drugs and steroids.
I'm not a doctor; nor do I play one on TV. What I do know is this: Drugs kill. Steroids kill. The WWE has been covering up the proliferation of both in their ranks since the organization was vaulted from a sideshow act to main event. Recently there was a teeny weeny announcement made that ten WWE superstars had been suspended recently for testing positive, but neither offenders nor their substance of choice were identified. As long as the powers that be at WWE allow this kind of illicit activity to take place in the name of the show, we can expect to see more bodies pile up.
