I could do this for yearsOh, that Ellen Barkin. Such a vixen. She went from being a popular actress to socialite wife of billionaire Ron Perelman, and moved into an entirely different stratosphere. When the marriage crumbled five years later, she cleaned his clock. Depending on whom you ask, Ellen landed a settlement somewhere between $20 and $60 million. Then she sold the jewelry he bought her, netting another $21 million. You'd think she'd be happy, but no, she's not. The last time these two bumped into each other, Ellen threw a glass of wine in Ron's face and told his date, "I feel sorry for you that you have to f**k him tonight." Ouch! Makes you wonder what he did to incur her wrath.
In a suit filed Tuesday in Manhattan Supreme Court, Ellen is seeking another $4.3 million from Ron that he had pledged to invest in a new production company Ellen started in 2005. Here's where things get a little murky. Apparently this company was formed so Ellen and her brother, George Barkin, would have something to do all day. George is a former editor of High Times magazine. Perhaps as a direct result of that job history, the company, Applehead Productions, has yet to produce anything. Not surprisingly, Ron has never made any payments.
Sources say that this is an attention ploy by Ellen, who isn't getting a lot of movie offers lately. Her newly torqued face and haute airs did little to endear her to the press corps at the Ocean's 13 premiere, and the scripts just aren't rolling in the way they used to. Which is a shame, because she's a great actress, but apparently not much of a producer.
