The Office cast at the 2006 Emmy AwardsThe people on the Acedmy of Television Arts and Sciences usually piss me off a bit. Once they think someone is talented they give the award to them every year and never let anyone else win. For example, John Lithgow on 3rd Rock from the Sun. Yes he was absolutely funny. He totally deserved an Emmy but I don't think he needed six. Same with David Hyde Pierce who you could tell was actually embarassed because he had like eight of them and practically said please stop. Of course, then again sometimes they do the whole we love you this year here is the big award and then the next year they are like "I'm sorry who are you?" This is referred to as The Lost syndrome (won the Emmy for best show the first year. The next year the cast wasn't even invited). This year there are the usual contenders like The Sopranos which is usually nominated but never wins and newcomers like 30 Rock and Heroes also managed to make it. Tina Fey was nominated which is pretty extraordinary since she has never claimed to be an actress but I think she's hilarious so cheers! Though I am sure America Ferrera will nab it because she cries on her show and shit which is always an advantage. At least Hayden Pannetiere wasn't nominated. Then I would really have ha d fit. The nominations for Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson of The Office were most pleasing to me. They should have given an award to John Krasinski as well for just being so darn cute. The Office won best show last year and though I think it is amazing I would not be devastated if it did not win this year. As long as Ugly Betty doesn't get it I am all good.
