Or at least she does in the newsroom. Katie has been under a lot of stress since her move to the CBS Evening News. It seems to be a somewhat choppy transition for the anchor.
Couric has recently admitted to hitting her news editor. Her frustration and anger came from his use of the word "sputum" in a piece. Apparently Couric dislikes the word sputum enough to smack someone over it. That's an interesting tidbit of info.
It seems as though the abuse was limited to a few slaps on the arm. And from a waif like Katie, I'm sure the injury was minimal. But, wow, that woman is wound tightly. I don't like the word "moist", but I don't go hitting people over it.
Katie and Les are exactly
Katie and Les are exactly what's wrong with the news today. People don't want "entertainment", they want facts. They don't want someone who went to journalism school, they want someone with real experience and history in the topic being discussed. Anyone can get a superficial understanding of any topic by skimming the Internet. What we want is a learned scholar with real-world experience giving us the news.
What is interesting is that CBS turned in exactly the wrong direction with this. They went "hollywood" and "Ryan Seacrest" at a point in time when people are rejecting George's frat-boy cavalierness. We realize that we're not the smartest people on the planet, but we now want the smartest people telling us what is up on a nightly basis. Don't confuse the easy morning soccer-mom mentality with the needs of the rest of America.
This train wreck was obvious from the beginning. Why does Les get paid millions and I can't even buy a house. This country sucks ass.
