Mean GirlsI think sometimes the E!Network gets a little desperate sometimes. I mean obviously they do. They hired Ryan Seacrest to basically be their anchor. But when it comes to the E!True Hollywood Stories they are usually right on target. They pick an actor or singer who has ultimately sucseeded but along the way they either had a drug problem, a crazy parent, an eating disorder or a dramatic romance (all Lindsay). There has to be some sort of conflict. Then they started doing the E!True Hollywood Stories of TV shows. Now shows like 90210 and Growing Pains obviously had some potent drama (Shannon Doherty being a bitchy diva/Tori Spelling being a man and for the latter Kirk Cameron becoming a religious freak and Tracy Gold's eating disorder) and then they started doing movies like American Pie. I guess American Pie made sense because there were three of them so people did change and anything about Tara Reid is usually pretty funny. And then they decided to do the E!True Hollywood Story of Mean Girls. I was very excited when I sat down to watch it on what was apparently Lindsay Lohan day on the E! channel because it looked like there had been a lot of drama on the set what with Lindsay just really coming into her hotness and Rachel McAdams being the rival star. But apparently nothing happened!! Everybody was really nice. It was really just an excuse to give us the story of Tina Fey's career which was lovely but there was no drug problem. There was no illegitimate child. It was like watching PBS. Before every commercial they would talk about some big cat fight but apparently they were talking about the actual cat fight in the movie. Did this film really deserve a E!True Hollywood Story?! The mean girls were just so nice. It really sucked.
