Sharpen Your Airbrush: Producers Hope to Make Sex And The City Movie Before They Become Golden Girls

All the hemming and hawing over contract details is really taking its toll on those poor under-privileged girls.

Can't you just taste the love between them? Can't you just taste the love between them?

Cynthia Nixon, in particular, seems overjoyed to be there. They can deny 'til they're blue in the face, but I don't think these ladies like each other that much. Unlike the stars of Friends, you never see them together socially. In particular, it's said that Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall can't stand each other. Kim probably thinks she should have been the star because she was the hot one and doesn't lead with her chin.

Regardless of how much they insist they're doing it for artistic reasons, I think the deciding factor was more than likely financial - somebody wasn't making enough on their residuals. Maybe a depressing lack of new projects also had an effect on their sensibility. As a fan of the show, I was actually a little excited when I heard the news (again), but then reality set in. When did a movie about a TV show ever turn out to be any good? Well, Scooby Doo (the first one, anyway) was kinda cute, but did you see Bewitched? (Dead silence) I rest my case.

The only way they could make it watchable would be to do a ten-years-later kind of thing. Carrie would be editor of a shoe fetishist rag. Charlotte would be a society matron, a lady who lunches and shops at Bergdorf's. Sam would be Queen of the Last Call at a low-brow local saloon and Miranda would probably be doing what she's doing in real life: quietly raising a family with her domestic partner.
