Rachel WeiszIt was just announced that Rachel Weisz will not be coming back for the third installment of The Mummy. Now, honestly we can’t really blame her for this movie. As I recall the second one wasn’t very good and Oscar winners (besr supporting for The Constant Gardener) don’t need to be in mediocre blockbuster trequals unless they really want to.
Plus the makers of The Mummy really missed their opportunity with getting the film out this summer which has officially become the summer of trequals with SpiderMan3, Shrek 3, POTC 3 and… no I think that is it. Anyway, Rachel will be replaced by the beautiful Maria Bello. I think Ms.Bello is very talented but she literally seems to take every role she is offered, even crappy ones with similar plots. Last year she appeared in both “Dreamer", which is about a poor family and the daughter’s (Dakota Fanning) difficult relationship with her father and how a horse brings them together and “Flicka” , which is about a poor family and the daughter’s (Alison Lohman) difficult relationship with her father and how a horse brings them together. Bello played the mother in both. I can’t speak for “Dreamer” but “Flicka” wasn’t much to see. I turned it off when it seemed as if the daughter (played by a way too old to play this part Lohman) seemed to have too much of a lovey-dovey relationship with her brother who was shirtless all the time.
